Roadside Station Kioda, the gateway to Okinawa’s Yambaru region, which was awarded Japan’s No. 1

Located in Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture, Michi no Eki Xuden was the first roadside station to open in Okinawa Prefecture in 1994, and is a popular spot visited by approximately 1.5 million people annually.

It is worth visiting as a base for sightseeing in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island and as a place to buy Okinawan souvenirs.

Roadside Station Xuden: The Complete Renewal

On July 31, 2021, Michi-no-Eki Kikyoda (Michinoeki Kikyoda) in Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture, celebrated a major reopening.

Main Renewals

Transformation of Road Information Terminal

The biggest change is the renewal of the Road Information Terminal.

The new three-story building has spacious restrooms and a handicapped-accessible parking lot on the first floor, a tourist information space and restroom on the second floor, and a new observation area on the third floor.

The observation space will provide visitors with a spectacular view of Nago Bay and a new healing space.

New seaside facility and parking lot

A new facility and parking lot have also been established on the ocean side, located on the opposite side of Route 58.

This greatly increased the number of parking spaces and greatly improved visitor convenience. The seaside facility can now be smoothly accessed to the main body of the roadside station via an overhead passageway.

Gourmet food and souvenirs

The Yanbaru Products Center has been renovated to offer an even wider range of delicious Okinawan gourmet foods and attractive souvenirs.

In addition to popular takeout menus such as tempura and tacos, the restaurant also offers a variety of sweets made from local fruits and original souvenirs from Michi no Eki Xuda.

New access and full opening of Nago East Road

The renewal coincided with the opening of the entire Nago East Highway.

This will significantly change access from the Naha area, and with the removal of the Husoda intersection, will allow for smoother travel.

It will definitely make your trip to Nago City and the northern part of the main island of Okinawa more convenient and enjoyable.
