With the catchphrase “The earliest summer fireworks festival in Japan,” the Ryukyu Kaiyan Matsuri is a symbolic event that enlivens Okinawa in the season of the opening of the sea.
By using the most advanced digital ignition technology, the timing of the fireworks is precisely linked to each note of the music, and the different light effects at each moment are a feast for the eyes and ears.
Main Program: Fireworks Illusion
The hour-long fireworks show is a spectacular illusion in which a variety of fireworks are shot off in succession to exotic music and popular songs unique to Okinawa.
The highlight of the fireworks display is the “Design Fireworks ” produced by world-renowned fashion designer Junko Koshino, as well as the highly artistic fireworks display featuring ukiyo-e woodblock prints.
Stage performances and food stalls
One of the attractions of the festival is that in the evening before the fireworks begin, visitors can enjoy a stage filled with a tropical atmosphere, including live music by artists from Okinawa and an eisa performance by a local group.

The Kaien Matsuri is a ticketed (fee-based) event and must be purchased in advance.
Sales for 2025 begin in late February, but popular seats tend to sell out early each year. It is safe to secure your seats as early as possible.

- IC exit→turn left and go about 500m→go straight on Route 330→take Prefectural Road 153 toward Makiminato→cross Route 58 and go straight on the bypass, the ocean (yacht harbor) is on the left. Next to it is the main entrance to Ginowan Seaside Park.

- Rain gear (poncho/kappa): rain or shine, use of umbrellas may be limited at the venue
- Warm clothing/clothing: The sea breeze at night can be surprisingly cold. A parka or windbreaker is recommended.
- Cash (coins): Since the stalls mainly accept cash, it is better to have it ready in advance.
- Insect repellent/wet wipes: mosquitoes and insects may be present even in early spring; also useful for wiping hands after stall food

History and Origin: “Early Summer” Fireworks Liven Up Okinawa in Spring
The Ryukyu Kaiyan Matsuri was created in 2004 with the goal of attracting tourists to Okinawa in seasons other than summer, and to stimulate the Okinawan economy.
