On Saturday, April 27, 2024, the Kadena America Fest 2024 will be held, opening the Kadena Air Base in Okinawa Prefecture to the public.
It is also known as Kadena Fest, Kadena Festival, or Kadena Carnival, but its official name is Kadena America Fest.
This event, which deepens the friendship between Okinawa and Kadena Air Base, is a rare opportunity to experience a wide variety of American culture, including music, food culture, and science education.

Kadena American Fest 2024 Review
The F22 (Raptor) was on display, which I did not expect.
I was excited to see them so close up.
I was able to see the MQ9 (reaper) up close like this.
This MQ9 (Reaper) is said to be piloted by a person in Kadena Air Base when it takes off from Kadena Air Base, but once it takes off, it will switch to remote control from its home country, the United States.
It was good because we can fly 24 hours a day and it is not always easy to check the flying place even at Kadena Air Base.

History of AmeriFest
The history of the Kadena Air Base America Fest runs deep, and until 2001 it was known as the “Cadena Carnival.
Initially held in conjunction with the U.S. Independence Day (July 4), the event was renamed “America Fest” in 2001 and is now held regardless of Independence Day.
Although the September 11 terrorist attacks forced the event not to be held in 2002 and 2003,
The 2023 event was held over two days, as it was the first time in nine years.
In 2024, the event will be held for one day only.

Ground Exhibition: STEM hangar (hangar) is open to the public!
Continuing from last year, the “STEM Hangar” will be open to the public, featuring state-of-the-art U.S. Air Force aircraft and hands-on learning booths about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
The event is a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with practical demonstrations of search and rescue teams, flight simulations, first aid for the U.S. military, forensics, and more.
Food & Goods: Taste of the World
There will be many food trucks on site where visitors can enjoy not only American food, but also Greek, Turkish, Brazilian, Mexican, Hawaiian, and other cuisines from around the world.
Original goods from units belonging to Kadena Air Base will also be on sale, with special items available only for this event.
Stage: Live pop & rock music
Last year, popular American singer-songwriter Colby Caray came to Okinawa to perform on the special main stage.
